Notes :
This first Commonwealth of Australia five pound note featured the Hawkesbury River at Brooklyn, New South Wales on
the back and a band of red across the top and bottom of the note.
Approximately 693,442 of these notes were printed. Following the discovery of forgeries in 1914, the reverse design
was modified for the next issue with the inclusion of a mosaic of 5's and colour phasing on the reverse.

These notes only appear very rarely, so any valuations are largely hypothetical.
Lot 170 at the International Auction Galleries Auction 70 held on 13th September, 2009
was a r35 banknote - graded VG/aF - which realised a price of $104,850
